Hey there! I'm in the market for a planer but my budget is pretty tight right now. I've checked out the usual home improvement stores, but the prices are just crazy high. Does anyone have suggestions for where I might find a decent planer without breaking the bank?

Have you considered looking into local lumber stores? Many of them will offer jointing and planing services for a fee, which could be much cheaper if you don't need to do it often. Also, places like Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace can be hit or miss, but estate sales often have great deals on tools. I know it's tough finding what you need, but hanging in there can really pay off!
If you're open to hand tools, hand planing is always an option! It's a bit slower but can be quite effective. Just get a good block plane, and you can make it work!
I have a block plane already, but I'm not super familiar with all the different sizes and types of hand planes. Any specific recommendations?
You might want to check online for local auctions. Sometimes you can find really good deals there!

I've been checking those marketplaces too, but they're mostly asking for near-new prices on used tools! I found one lumber store nearby, but I'm not sure if they offer planing services. It's hard to find out about that.
