Hey everyone! I'm new here and need some help. I usually live in places with garbage disposals because I really dislike the feeling of reaching into a strainer to clear out food scraps—it's pretty gross for me, especially since I have a disability that makes walking painful. I've just moved into a place without a garbage disposal, and I'm struggling with how to deal with food bits in the sink. I've been careful to scrape my plates before washing, but I still end up with scraps in there. I've checked out various sink strainers, but they all have that same issue: removing them means dripping mess on the floor, or I have to dig my hand in to clean them out. Does anyone have suggestions for better solutions?

One idea is to put a small trash can under the sink so you don’t have to walk far to empty it. But honestly, I don’t know of any strainer that magically makes food disappear. It’s a tough spot!
If you have a neighbor with a compost pile, maybe get a small compost bin for your counter? It might help you feel better about those scraps, and it definitely saves you the hassle of walking to the trash every time. Plus, composting can be kind of fun!
That’s a great idea, but I don't have space on my counter and bugs are a big issue if I leave anything open.
I found this silicone strainer that you can lift by a ring, and it flips inside out to easily remove the junk. It’s not a perfect fix for everything, but it does help with cleaning! Here’s the one I use!
I’ve tried something similar, but it still gets kind of slimy. Ugh!
I get it! Unfortunately, I can't put anything under there because it's full of cleaning products. I’m really looking for some tool or method to make cleanup easier.
