Hey everyone! I'm on the hunt for some great books about furniture making and design that really helped others when they were starting out. I'm saving up for the tools I need to dive into this, but I think it would be wise to do some reading first instead of jumping straight into projects. I'm particularly interested in books that focus on using hand tools only, as I'm just a beginner. My only hands-on experience so far has been building a small garden fence.

I'd recommend "The Technique of Furniture Making" by Ernest Joyce, it's been really helpful for me! Also, check out "The Encyclopedia of Furniture Making"; it's one of the best resources for practical joinery. Another good one is "Woodwork Joints" by Charles Hayward. These should give you a solid foundation before you start building!
You might want to check out "Tage Frid Teaches Woodworking". It's perfect for newbies and covers everything from basics to more advanced techniques. Definitely a good pick!
Totally agree! Those books cover a lot and are super useful. Make sure to have a look at "Illustrated Cabinet Making" by Bill Hylton as well; it's a great visual guide. You won't regret adding it to your list!
