Looking for Beginner-Friendly Gardening Tips

Hey everyone! I'm just starting my gardening journey and would love some advice on what types of plants I can work on. I've heard shrubs are a safe bet since you can mostly plant them and let them do their thing, but I'm looking for something a bit more interactive—maybe plants that require more hands-on care and can help me learn the ropes. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Why not start with seeds? It's super rewarding to see them sprout! Easy ones like snapdragons, calendula, and marigolds are a great choice. They grow well from seeds, and you'll enjoy the process of watching them grow. Plus, aquilega and hardy fuchsia are lovely and come back year after year with minimal effort! As the weather warms, it's a perfect time to start planting.

It sounds like you're questioning what you want to get out of your gardening experience! Starting out can be a bit of a trial and error process where you pick some plants, get a good amount of compost, and find the right spots to plant. Expect a bit of disaster before things start flourishing! If you're interested in veggies, maybe try a subscription box—it can guide you through the basics! And don’t stress too much; gardening is more about learning as you go.

Take a stroll through your neighborhood and see what's thriving in your area! The plants already growing in your neighbors' gardens can give you a hint about what works well with your soil. Most gardeners are happy to share tips—just ask! And if you’re considering longevity, perennials are a smart choice as they return each season without needing to be replanted.
