Looking for Beginner Woodworking Project Ideas

I've recently gotten into woodworking after building a shed. I started off with a circular saw and picked up more tools like a track saw and a miter saw. I even found an old table saw and a jointer from my dad's stuff. I've been watching tons of YouTube videos to learn more, but my wife is hesitant about me starting projects, saying that framing isn't really woodworking. So, I'm on the hunt for a beginner project that I can work on to learn the ropes and prove to her that I can actually create something valuable. Any suggestions?

Building a shed is already impressive! For your next project, consider making picture frames for those loose photos you have, or an entryway bench to make shoe removal easier. Some other low-stress options are an end table, a coat rack with custom hooks, or even a nice cutting board. Plus, since you have some solid tools, processing your own hardwood can save you money. Just check local groups for good deals on wood!

My first project was also a shed, followed by a workbench. After that, I made simple things like coasters and a joiner’s mallet. They're perfect for picking up new skills without overwhelming yourself!

Great to hear! I think starting with smaller projects is the way to go. Thanks!

You might want to start by building some furniture for your shop, keeping it nice enough to show off at home. Simple projects like trays, boxes, or cutting boards are great for beginners and let you demonstrate your newfound skills without too much pressure.
