Looking for Budget Alternatives to Kreg Pocket Hole Screws

Hey everyone! I'm currently deep into a project where I've drilled a ton of pocket holes using the Kreg XL jig—like, hundreds of them. I'm hoping to find some alternative brands for the screws to save a bit of cash. I'm specifically looking for #14 screws that are 2-1/2" long with a #3 head. So far, I've only been able to find the Kreg screws themselves, and the closest alternative I've spotted is the LionMax #8 2-1/2" screw, but it's too narrow for my needs. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I've been using Spax screws as a cheaper alternative for years and they work great! You can usually find them at big box stores for about half the price of Kreg screws. Definitely worth giving them a shot!

Interesting… So it works okay even though they're construction screws, right? I wonder if the head seats well in the pocket. I'll give it a try!

Milescraft also offers their HDpocketscrew, which is their take on the Kreg screw. It's a #14, 2.5-inch screw and they sell packs of 35 for around $5, making them a tad cheaper per screw than Kreg. Might be a solid option for you!

Thank you! This sounds promising! I just ordered a box and plan to try them later this week.
