Looking for Budget-Friendly Ways to Dehumidify and Cool My Small Bedroom Without AC

Hey everyone! I'm trying to find an affordable solution to dehumidify and cool my small bedroom. I've been dealing with high humidity levels, but I can't use an air conditioner because I'm worried about mold issues. I already have an air purifier, but it's not enough to tackle the humidity. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You could also try a DIY cooler setup! Like, freeze a couple of big water jugs, put them in front of a fan, and close up your room. As the fan blows air over the cold jugs, it’ll help cool things down and some humidity will condense. It's cheap and can work for a bit, but don’t expect AC-level cooling.

That sounds like a fun project! Just make sure you have a plan for the water collecting from the jugs.

If you’re adamant about avoiding AC, look into a small portable dehumidifier. They'll definitely help with humidity and can keep the air manageable. You might also consider a mini-split system that can provide cooling and dehumidifying without the hassle of traditional AC units.

Yeah, a mini-split sounds like a solid option if you're looking to invest a bit more. It's an all-in-one solution that helps with both issues!

Honestly, an AC unit is really the best way to handle humidity since it cools the air and pulls out moisture. If you're worried about mold, you might need to really consider if a small AC unit could help manage that. But if that's completely off the table, you could look into a room-sized dehumidifier as a substitute. It does pretty well at removing humidity, but just keep in mind it won't cool the air like an AC would.

Exactly! A dehumidifier won’t cool like an AC, so you'll just have to tolerate the heat unless you find another workaround.
