Looking for Canadian Woodcarving Tools – Any Recommendations?

I recently attended a woodcarving workshop and I'm really excited to get started! I'm on the hunt for a roughing knife, detail knife, and a couple of gouges for my beginner class. Ideally, I'd like to buy from Canadian tool makers, but I haven't found many options. Does anyone have recommendations for Canadian brands or retailers where I can find these tools?

Dennis Moor's Chipping Away is a great Canadian business I’ve dealt with before. You might find what you need there, and they offer decent service. Just check their site: chippingaway.com! Also, don’t forget about used tools. There are plenty of carvers who sell their homemade knives or custom work.

William Wood Write is another option, though they're more geared towards woodturning. They might have something that fits your needs.

It looks like there aren't many dedicated Canadian tool makers for woodcarving tools. But if you're looking to support Canadian businesses, you can check out Chipping Away and Lee Valley. They don’t manufacture carving tools but carry some from non-American brands. You could also explore brands like Jamie Sharp for boutique options. If you're okay with tools made elsewhere, I suggest STRYI for knives and Pfeil for gouges, though they're Ukrainian and Swiss respectively.
