Hey everyone! I'm almost done with a substantial remodel of my house. It took way longer and cost more than expected, so I decided to keep it as a rental instead of selling. I'm not a fan of carpet, but at just 49 cents per square foot for installation, it makes sense to carpet the bedrooms, hallway, and stairwell. Even if I opt for LVP myself, it would still be more expensive and time-consuming since the flooring isn't in great shape. Does anyone have recommendations for balancing quality and cost? What brands should I consider? Should I stick with a cheaper carpet pad or invest a little more for better quality?

Definitely sign up for a pro membership at Home Depot. They offer a range of colors for pro flooring installs, which can be cheaper than what's on the floor. Just keep in mind that you might have to handle the installation yourself, rather than having Home Depot's employees do it.
If you’re going through Home Depot or Lowe's, remember that they typically hire out contractors for installation instead of having their own staff do it. For possibly better service and options, you might want to consider going directly to a dedicated carpet company.
Upgrading the carpet pad is a smart move! A good pad can really enhance the look and longevity of even the most budget-friendly carpet. It’s a small investment that pays off in the long run.
