I'm about to purchase a DCCS677 chainsaw for some light tree work and I'm considering whether to go for the 15AH DCCS677Z1 or the 12AH DCCS677Y1. The 15AH model is priced around $549, while the 12AH is about $519. I'm curious if there are any drawbacks to choosing the 15AH, maybe related to weight or performance? Plus, can anyone suggest the best places or times to snag a good deal on one? Currently, it's listed for $544 on Amazon compared to $599 elsewhere. Also, I'm in the market for a solid pole saw—any suggestions?

While I usually stick to gas-powered saws like the Stihl MS250, if you’re set on electric, I’d say go with the 15AH. It’s a battery monster—seriously! A buddy of mine just tackled some big limbs with his DCCS677 and it doesn't mess around. He did mention that the battery could overheat if you push it too hard. Just a heads up, but the power is impressive! For pole saws, the DCPS620 has also proven to be quite effective for light work.
I found the 15AH for just $519 on Toolnut, which is a great deal! It’s perfect for the DCCS677, especially since it’s a power-hungry tool. Definitely consider that if you want decent battery life. Also, make sure you check that out!
I’ve been using the DCCS670 with 9AH packs for a while now, and it’s been adequate for regular yard work. It’s lighter, too! If weight is a concern, you might want to think twice about the 15AH. As for pole saws, the 20V Dewalt 8" saw with a 10' reach is awesome! Just keep in mind it's a bit tricky to undercut with the pole saw, but it works well otherwise.
