I'm hoping to add some vibrant flowers to my apartment, but I'm limited by space and light. The only bright spot is my bedroom windowsill, which faces north and I need to keep my blinds able to close. I live in LA county and I've already got an orchid that's thriving and starting to bloom again. Can anyone suggest small plants that would do well in this light condition?

For your light situation, I recommend African Violets, Flame Violets, or even more Phalaenopsis Orchids. Just keep in mind, the closed blinds might limit how often they can bloom. Small plants will work best for your windowsill!
With a north-facing window, you should get some good indirect light. African violets could be a great option since they generally love those conditions!
How often do I need to water them? Also, are they safe for dogs?
You might want to try a kalanchoe! They come in a variety of colors and have a succulent texture, so they tend to grow slowly, making them perfect for a small pot. Plus, they're pretty easy to find!
I'll check those out! What kind of care do they need?

I want to make sure I can keep them on the windowsill while the blinds are closed. Do you know if there are any other types of orchids that would thrive besides phalaenopsis?
