Looking for Creative Ways to Improve Privacy in My Yard

Hey everyone! I have a corner lot, and most of my patio and backyard are pretty exposed to the street. Currently, I have metal fences that are about 4 feet tall, which I know is the limit due to city regulations. We aren't really looking to replace them with wooden fences because of the cost. I'm hoping to find some alternative ideas to enhance my privacy without spending a ton. Some suggestions from friends include placing privacy planters along the gravel and concrete areas, tying a 6 ft bamboo fence to the existing metal fences, or just accepting the openness. What do you think would be a minimal yet tasteful way to achieve more privacy? Also, here's a link to the area I'm trying to improve: https://imgur.com/a/FHigpOc. We really dislike how visible we are to passersby!

Instead of a fence, have you thought about using outdoor curtains? They can create a cozy feel while giving you the privacy you’re looking for. You could hang them from a pergola or even from a wire strung between poles. They can easily be pulled back when you want an open feel or closed for more privacy. Just make sure they're weather resistant!

I love that idea! It would definitely add a nice touch and some flexibility.

You might want to consider planting some tall bushes or climbing vines that can create a natural barrier without the need for a tall fence. It could add some greenery and still maintain a bit of openness if you select the right plants. Also, think about using those privacy screens made of wood or bamboo that are easy to install and can be quite stylish. They can provide a little extra height without going over the city height restrictions. Just make sure to check if you need any permits beforehand!

That sounds like a great idea! Plus, you can choose plants that bloom for some added color.
