Looking for DIY Grass Catcher Ideas for Craftsman T2400 Lawn Mower

I'm trying to find some DIY or universal kits for making a grass catcher that works with my Craftsman T2400 riding lawnmower and is safe to use. I'm hoping to keep the cost under $300. I have nearly an acre to maintain and I'm really tired of the mess, especially after rain that leaves the grass long and clumpy. Using a leaf blower on the sidewalks and street takes forever, and I end up having to physically clear grass from my flower beds. My husband thinks it's pointless to direct the grass away from these areas, but I'm looking for some actual solutions!

It sounds like you're dealing with a frustrating situation! If you're using the discharge chute, it’s all about aiming it away from the spots you want to keep clean, so I’m not sure why your husband doesn't see that. Have you thought about switching to mulching blades? They eliminate the discharge, but if that's not an option, a tow-behind lawn sweeper might do the trick. They're not too pricey and should help gather a lot of the clippings, although you'll still need to manage what lands in flowerbeds. Good luck!

I like your idea about cutting the lawn twice! It’s also great to mulch, as it can help return some nutrients back to the soil, meaning less fertilizer in the long run. That said, aftermarket grass catchers might be worth checking out as well—there are some good options out there!
