Hey everyone! My shower drain is completely broken, leaving a big hole that causes water to leak onto the floor, making it unusable. I want to create a DIY shower pan that can catch the water instead of letting it go down the drain, so I can still use the shower until I can get proper construction done. I'll need to drain the collected water into a bucket after each shower. Any suggestions on how to build this or what materials I might need? Thanks for the help!

Consider using a smaller diameter pipe that you can extend below the hole, and then sealing it with something robust like silicone sealant. This could help manage the leaking while you're figuring out a more permanent solution.
You might want to try using a small submersible pump to help drain the water out. It could make things a lot easier and keep the area from getting too messy! Just make sure to get one that can handle the amount of water you'll collect.
Thanks for the tips! I'm actually not clear if the problem is with the pan or the drain pipe itself. If it's the pan that's cracked, I might be able to use construction adhesive and some metal flashing to patch it up for now. But if it's the pipe that's broken, maybe a repair clamp could do the trick. It’s tricky!

Just make sure to clean the area really well before applying any adhesive. Soap residues can mess up your bond because they contain a lot of oils.
