Looking for DIY Large Solar Pergola Plans

Hey everyone! I'm searching for some good plans to build a large solar pergola in my backyard. I've checked out Chiko, but their prices are pretty high compared to what I think I could create with some lumber and a solid plan. I want to build a structure that's at least 22 x 45 feet to accommodate four cars and serve as a gazebo by my pool. Ideally, I'd love to add an L-shaped extension to fit even more solar panels—like another 24 or 36 panels on top of the 48 that Chiko offers. I think a lumber structure would look better than steel in my yard and could save some cash too. One thing I wonder about is whether I'd need to purchase extra racking if I go the DIY route. If anyone has suggestions for plans or resources for something this size, I'd really appreciate it!

You might want to check out this site for some DIY pergola ideas that can be adapted to your needs: [Strongtie Pergola Plans](https://blog.strongtie.com/xx-free-pergola-plans-pavilion-patio-arbor-diy/). They have some templates that should be easy to modify. Also, Simpson has a free planner tool that could help you visualize things better: [Simpson Pergola Planner](https://www.strongtie.com/products/go/software/pergolaplanner). Good luck with your project!

Thanks for the tips! I looked at those sites and found some cheaper options than Chiko, but I noticed most don't have a roof slope. Do you think modifying the roof for panels would be a hassle?
