Hey everyone! I'm trying to create a new hedge for my garden in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island and need some help finding the perfect plants. I'm looking for a few specific qualities: it should be cold-hardy for zones 8a-8b, evergreen for year-round privacy, and it would be awesome if it has fragrant flowers and produces edible berries or fruit! Also, I want something that's resistant to pests and diseases, can grow about 6 feet tall, and has a moderate growth rate. I've been thinking about Pineapple Guava, but I'd love to hear your suggestions or any experiences you might have! Thanks a bunch! 😊

You might have to compromise a little with your criteria. Huckleberry and serviceberry are good options, but they aren't evergreen. Beaked hazelnut could be a contender as well. For the best results, consider native plants since they'll thrive better in your ecosystem and offer good benefits.
Thanks! I’m definitely considering mixing different species, so those are all good options. Appreciate your input!
