I've tried all the natural methods to get rid of mealy bugs on my pothos plant but nothing seems to work. Now I'm ready to go with strong pesticides—no more neem oil for me! What do you recommend for treating mealy bug infestations on houseplants? It would be great if the options are safe for cats, if that's even possible.

If you're keeping your plants indoors, pesticides that contain imidacloprid or acetamiprid are often effective. Just keep in mind that these can harm pollinators, so they should strictly stay inside.
I’ve had success with diluted rubbing alcohol. Just clean the leaves with it, and it should help eliminate the mealy bugs. However, it might take a few tries!
I’ve been doing the alcohol swab treatments, but the bugs are still winning that fight.

They are strictly indoor plants. ?
