Looking for Feedback on My Solar Setup Plan: Thoughts on Batteries and Panels?

Hey everyone! I'm diving into solar to help me keep critical loads powered during outages and to offset rising electricity costs. I reached out to Signature Solar for a design since I'm not confident designing it myself. They've suggested I use 24 Talesun 405W bifacial panels, along with an EG4 FlexBOSS21, an EG4 Wallmount 48V 280Ah battery, and an EG4 GridBOSS MID V2. My house has a reliable grid but we do experience monthly outages, sometimes lasting two days, so I currently have a gas generator but want to add battery backup for those short losses. I'm planning to ground mount the panels facing South-Southeast, with the FlexBOSS setup in my basement. I want to run my well pump, kitchen appliances, lights, and hopefully the mini-splits off-grid, but I'm unsure if one battery is enough for my needs. Here's what I'm curious about: 1. Is this system well designed for my requirements? 2. Can I scale the setup later with more panels? 3. Should I invest in an additional battery now, considering potential price hikes? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Just a heads-up, the FlexBOSS21 usually requires a minimum of 300Ah. If you're looking to last two days without power, aiming for three batteries would be a safer bet. The pricing you're seeing might be favorable, but you'll want to check if that 280Ah battery is truly sufficient for your setup once you factor in winter loads.

I looked at their site too, and yeah, it seems like their pricing aligns well with Signature Solar, but stuff’s apparently backordered. Also, are you suggesting the 280Ah battery isn’t enough for the FlexBOSS?

I think adding more batteries and panels would be a smart move. Having extra panels can really help in cloudy conditions by keeping your batteries charged. It seems you're anticipating high winter usage, so the added capacity could be beneficial.

Definitely keep in mind that winter usage tends to spike, so the more panels, the better!
