Hey everyone! I'm in a bit of a bind because my Photoshop isn't working right now. I'm a bit lost trying to find an alternative that allows me to create designs similarly, especially where I can easily plot on a canvas with shapes like rectangles. I've tried searching for options but maybe I'm not phrasing my searches right. Can anyone suggest a good free design software that fits this need?

Have you checked out SketchUp? It's super user-friendly for this kind of stuff. It’s more of a CAD-style software rather than a full-blown image editor, so it's simpler. You can get the hang of it quickly, especially for layout projects like woodworking. Just a heads up—it's not as heavy-duty as something like AutoCAD, but it serves well for basic design tasks. You could probably learn enough in an hour to start plotting your rectangles!
I’m not an expert in design, but I’ve heard good things about GIMP as a Photoshop alternative. It has a lot of the same functionalities. Just a tip though—it can have a bit of a learning curve if you're not used to it.
I actually downloaded GIMP recently but found it pretty confusing to get started, to my embarrassment!

I've looked at SketchUp too but never really found my rhythm with it. I don't use design software often enough to invest the time learning it. I just want to sketch things out right now! XD
