Hey everyone! I'm trying to set up a self-contained lighting system for my chicken coop. I'm thinking of having a few lights, a battery, solar panel, a controller, a timer, and possibly a manual switch. If anyone has built something similar or has ideas to share, I'd love to hear them!

I use some landscape solar lights that I got for about $15 each. They’re individually programmable, which makes it super easy to customize the lighting schedule for my chickens.
I suggest using soft white 2700K bulbs. They have the right red wavelengths that activate the pineal gland in chickens, signaling them to lay eggs. Just make sure to look for options that fit your power source!
Are you looking for heat or just light during the winter months? If it's just for light, I recommend keeping the timer set to give them about 14 hours of light to encourage egg laying.
