Hey everyone! I'm trying to find a way to install an opener for a double-hung window. It's a modern vinyl replacement unit, and the operation is smooth, but I have an older tenant who struggles with it and wants fresh air daily. I'd like to add something that can open the window a few inches without it looking too awkward. Any suggestions?

I totally feel you! My grandma lives with similar windows, and it can be tough to operate. We even tried suction handles but they didn’t help much. I'll keep an eye on this thread to see if you find a better solution!
Have you thought about using an RV awning rod? If the main issue is going down and not up, that could be a simple fix. Pair it with some silicone or dry lubricant and the window might just open with a light touch!
I've looked into options for similar situations and came across the Rollertrol system, which might work for you. However, if aesthetics are a concern, consider installing a new casement window that mimics the look of your current one with a simulated meeting rail. If you're aiming for a budget-friendly fix, you might also want to try installing ultra lift balances, which are designed for heavier windows and could improve functionality. You're doing a great deed for your tenant!
