Hey everyone! I recently moved and now have a vegetable garden with six 1.2m squared beds, most of which get full sun. I really enjoy growing food and eating fresh from the garden, but I've realized that I don't have the time or patience for veggies that require a lot of care and attention. I'm on the lookout for suggestions on low-effort vegetables that I can just sow and let grow with minimal interference (beyond watering and feeding).
This year, I successfully grew:
- Courgettes
- Carrots
- French beans
I also tried:
- Salad leaves, which didn't work due to the heat making them bolt.
- Tomatoes, which I've struggled with in the past because of blight and blossom end rot, but I want to give them another shot since the few I harvested were delicious!
- Beetroot, which should be easy but struggled with the heat.
As for the high-effort crops, I tried growing cauliflower and broccoli but found them too challenging due to pests and the lengthy growing time. I'm looking specifically for vegetable suggestions, as I plan to have separate beds for fruits. Thanks in advance!

You might want to consider planting potatoes, leeks, and spring onions since they thrive with minimal effort. Parsnips could also work well in your sunny beds, and chillies might do great there too! Plus, carrots and onions can be planted together – they help protect one another!
