I've been struggling with a really tough grass species that just won't quit invading my garden beds. I prefer not to use chemical sprays, except for neem oil, but this grass has thick roots and is really hard to pull out. Has anyone found effective natural alternatives to traditional grass killers?

You can try this mixture: blend 1 part dish soap, 1 part orange oil, and 1 part 20% vinegar (the stronger kind found at garden or hardware stores). It's effective for killing grass but won't hang around in your soil forever, plus it's safe for pets!
Another option is to let the area grow out with native plants. They can outcompete the grass and help restore the ecosystem in your garden.
Baking soda can also do the trick to kill grass. Just keep in mind, it’s not selective and can harm any nearby plants you want to keep — so be careful with application!
True! It’s definitely effective but use it sparingly. You don't want to accidentally wipe out your beloved flowers!

Sounds interesting! I've been using a mix with 1 gallon of 30% vinegar, a cup of salt, and some soap. Just be careful around your other plants because it can be pretty strong when it vaporizes!
