Hey everyone! I'm a newbie here and I'm really enjoying having verbena in my garden. They've got those long, thin stems that create a lovely semi-transparent screen between different sections. I'm curious if there are other plants that have a similar tall and slender silhouette with light foliage, or any suggestions for plants that pair nicely with verbena. I'd appreciate any help you can offer!

There are also plants like alliums and echinops that have that nice tall, lean profile. I really like *Oenothera lindheimeri* alongside verbena. Other options like geum, astrantia, or Japanese anemones could fit nicely too, especially since they rise above lower foliage. You could even try Siberian iris or anything you might find in prairie gardens—they mix well with verbena!
If you're after something temporary, Michaelmas daisies could be a choice—they grow nice and tall like a small hedge from June to October, but then they die back. For something lighter, try cosmos; they have a lovely airy feel. Fennel is another good option, especially if you let it go to seed. Cow cockle is similar to cosmos, but it’s not as leafy, so might work well too!
You might like tall cosmos for that light look, and Linaria purpurea can get tall too. Tall alliums could be an option, but they don’t last long as flowers. Peach-leaved bellflower also reaches a nice height, so consider that if you want variety!
