Looking for Pleached Tree Recommendations in North London/Herts

Hey everyone! I'm on the hunt for some advice and recommendations for planting pleached trees in North London or Hertfordshire. I used to have a towering apple tree that provided great privacy, but it's unfortunately dead now. I'm looking to replace it with something that's dog-safe and has non-invasive roots. Ideally, I want a tree with an 8ft trunk, and when it's fully grown, the branches should spread out to cover around 200 x 200 cm. It doesn't necessarily have to be evergreen. Since I'm a total newbie to gardening, I'd really appreciate any help or suggestions you can offer!

It sounds like you're looking for a tree that fits specific dimensions! For those measurements, a pleached tree might actually fit the bill. Just be aware, if you're going for something that covers a space of 2m x 2.5m, it could look more bushy than traditional. It's great you're considering the roots too, definitely important with pets around. I'd suggest checking out some local tree nurseries that might offer planting services. Barcham Trees and Majestic Trees are solid choices to contact! They've got a wealth of knowledge as well.

Thanks for that info! I’ll reach out to them.

Definitely check with large tree nurseries in your area. Most of them will not only advise you on the right tree but might even handle the planting for you, although usually, there's a fee for that. Barcham Trees or Majestic Trees would be a good start; they have a strong reputation. Good luck with your garden!
