Looking for Quick-Growing Plants to Block Neighbor’s View

I'm searching for fast-growing plants to help block my neighbors' view of my house and maybe dampen some noise. I've been having ongoing issues with my neighbor since I moved in. They initially stayed quiet for months but then came to complain about my parking, which they ironically also started doing. They tend to drive slowly past my house, often staring me down, and have even reported me to the city for various reasons, none of which stuck. I get along with everyone else, so it's definitely a problem with them. Another neighbor mentioned they've been mowing part of my land, presumably trying to claim it, although I'm taking care of it. I know about adverse possession laws, but I've been maintaining it for over 15 years, so I'm safe for now. My initial thought was to plant Arborvitae, but it takes a long time to grow and I can't afford mature plants. I'd like to plant across 70ft, and I'm looking for something budget-friendly. Just for reference, I'm in the southeastern US.

You might want to consider hybrid poplar, as it’s one of the fastest growing options out there. Just keep in mind that they tend to develop a tall bare trunk as they grow. But also think about your growing zone to ensure they thrive. I put up a 6-foot fence between me and my extremely nosy neighbor, and it worked like a charm!

If you are in the Northeast, then white spruce could be a great choice. It’s a common tree that grows well in abandoned pastures and is relatively inexpensive and speedy. Just a heads up, though—it gets pretty big and could topple in 60-70 years! But might not be ideal for you since you’re in the southeast. Have you thought about bush or shrub options? They should fill in nicely and can grow tall too!
