I just bought my first house and I'm preparing to move in. I want to change the locks before I bring in my things, but finding a suitable smart lock has been a challenge. I'm looking for a lock that meets the following criteria: it should have a physical keypad, preferably include a backup key, allow adding temporary guest codes or multiple entry codes, and not require any extra smart home devices to operate. Additionally, I need it to have decent battery life (at least 8 months or more), be easy to install, and ideally be budget-friendly, around $200 or less. So far, I've seen good reviews for Kwikset and Schlage but negative ones for Yale. I don't need anything super high-tech, just a reliable keypad that can manage temporary codes for contractors without excessive battery costs. I want to install it myself ASAP, so ease of installation is crucial. Any recommendations?

I've been using the Schlage BE489WB2 and it has everything you mentioned. The only hiccup is the battery life can dip in winter, but I’ve only changed mine about twice in 20 months. Also, just a heads up—be cautious with giving contractors temporary codes. It's safer to be there when they’re working.
We’ve tested a few smart locks and the Wyze lock stood out to us. It doesn’t have a backup key but ticks all the other boxes and works really well!
I'd recommend checking out Schlage. They have a great lineup that should fit your needs perfectly.
