Looking for Replacement Glass Globe Fitter Size – Any Tips?

Hey everyone! I have a funny story to share. My son, who is 6'7" (I'm only 5'8"!), accidentally smashed our light globe when he stood up from the couch in our kitchen. We've been searching for a replacement for two years now! The globe has a fitter size of 1 1/4 inches (1.25", 3mm) and it's open on the other side for the light bulb to screw in.

I would really appreciate any recommendations for suppliers, or if you have any clever DIY hacks to fit a 1 5/8" or 1.65" globe instead. Thanks in advance for your help!

You can find pretty much any size glass globe on eBay. It's worth a look! Just make sure to check the measurements before buying.

Honestly, after searching for two years, it might be easier to just replace the whole fitting with a new light that looks similar. That way, you'd avoid the hassle of finding the exact globe size. Might save you frustration in the long run!

That’s a thought! Just need to get my wife on board with that idea first. Thanks for your input!

Check out your local Habitat for Humanity ReStores. They often have old light fixtures and parts. Just bring your current globe fitting along to help find something that matches!

Great idea! I was planning to go there anyway, so that’ll be super helpful!
