I used to struggle with severe acne, but it has improved, and now I mainly deal with occasional redness. However, my sensitive skin gets quite red after shaving. I currently use sensitive skin shaving cream and disposable razors. Since I'm about to join the army, I'll need to shave every day. Is this something I just have to live with, or does anyone have any practical advice to manage this?

Consider switching to a safety razor or a single-blade razor. Many find that using fewer blades reduces irritation significantly. Make sure to wash your face with warm water before shaving to soften the hair and open up your pores. If you can, try shaving after a hot shower! Also, using an alum block post-shave can help soothe the skin and prevent razor burn.
Don't underestimate the power of good shave prep! Use shaving oil instead of just cream; it provides great lubrication. Also, trim before you shave if possible—it makes everything easier and can help with less irritation. And if you deal with any ingrown hairs, definitely consider pausing between shaves until your skin calms down a bit.
From my experience in the army, it was tough for me to keep a clear face while shaving daily. When I was in basic, I broke out a bit no matter what I did. I recommend getting an electric razor—especially one designed for sensitive skin. You can shave without water, which is handy in the field. Just keep your gear super clean, too; a clean razor and pillow case can make a big difference.
