Looking for Solar Panel System Recommendations

Hey everyone! I'm looking to get started with installing a solar system for my house that will work alongside the grid. I want to generate around 10-12 kW of power, but I'm not sure where to start when it comes to choosing brands or where to look for them. My dad is a master electrician with over 30 years in both commercial and residential wiring, but he's never done solar panels before. I've done some online searches, but I'm really hoping to get some real-world advice. Also, if anyone has tips on wiring diagrams or resources, that would be awesome! Thanks a bunch!

You might want to check out Enphase for your solar panels. If you're looking to save some cash, don't forget to browse Marketplace. I've seen some great deals pop up there!

Thanks, I will check into that!

If you can get a good deal on an electrician, I recommend looking for solar panels on Marketplace. There are lots of new, scratch-and-dent B-grade panels available for cheap. Depending on your setup, you can choose microinverters or string inverters/optimizers, but mounting them on the roof can be the trickiest part!

Thanks for the info! I’ll definitely look into that. I'm not too clear on microinverters or string inverters/optimizers yet, but I’ll do some research. I did see a complete 12.5 kW system for $3900, but it's got 13-year-old Trina panels. Comes with two 6000 watt inverters; seems a bit old, right?
