I'm trying to fix a cheap brass mantle clock for my mother-in-law, but I'm struggling to get the movement out and honestly, the clock doesn't hold any sentimental value. Instead of fixing it, I want to create a new mantle clock. However, I've had a tough time finding high-quality battery movements for a small clock. The last one I used from Woodcraft felt cheap and plastic-like, and I'm hoping for something with more heft and better quality. Any recommendations?

Have you thought about switching to a mechanical movement? Hermle is known for having some of the best movements out there and they can fit within a reasonable price range. I personally feel that if you're going to handcraft a piece, you should go for a traditional movement instead of quartz.
You should check out Klockit! I've been using their movements for decades and they've never let me down. They offer some really reliable options that feel substantial and look great too!
Thanks for the tip! I think I'd rather make a new mantle clock than salvage the old one after looking at it.

Totally agree with you! Klockit has been my go-to for a long time, and their quality is consistently impressive.
