Looking for Table Saw Recommendations for a Beginner

Hey everyone! I'm just stepping into the woodworking world and have gathered a few tools already. Now, I'm on the hunt for a table saw. My projects will be pretty basic, primarily focused on ripping down boards, as I'm really struggling to do that with my circular saw. Since space is tight, I'm looking for something portable and easy to transport. Any suggestions would be really appreciated!

I have the Delta 36-725T2. It's a solid saw for the price—usually goes on sale for about $300. It's mobile with built-in casters, though it doesn't fold up like some contractor saws. If you ever want to upgrade, the Festool track saw is fantastic for accuracy and minimal tear-out. I was really impressed after switching from a Kreg. Oh, and if you're looking for a top-notch option later, I’d recommend checking out SawStop.

A lot of folks swear by the Dewalt jobsite saw, but I think any of the major brands like Delta, Bosch, or Dewalt will do just fine in the $500-$900 range. Definitely check places like Facebook Marketplace for good deals on used ones, just be sure to skip anything that looks like it needs a lot of work. Remember to invest in quality blades too; Diablo blades are my go-to! Also, steer clear of Craftsman and Kobalt models if you can, and always follow safety guidelines.

I've been recommending the Bosch GTS15-10 to a lot of people too. It has nice features like a soft start motor and better dust collection. Just keep an eye on the ruler accuracy, but Bosch will send replacements if there's an issue.

Good call on avoiding the less reliable brands. The Bosch saw is indeed a great alternative!

If you're mostly breaking down sheet goods, you might want to consider getting a track saw instead. They're more portable and safer, plus they can handle materials up to 2 inches thick. Just something to think about!

Totally agree! A track saw really makes things easier for just breaking down sheets.
