Looking for Tall Perennials for My Garden Borders

Hi everyone! I'm working on some curved borders that are about 3 meters deep at their widest point. I'm on the hunt for recommendations for tall perennials to plant towards the back. I've already added some roses and I'm not too keen on having to climb over them to get to annuals. I usually prefer flowers in purple, pink, or white, but I'm open to any green options since the roses will be doing a lot of the showing off. Just so you know, my soil is clay, but I'm adding a ton of compost, and the garden gets plenty of sun facing south. Any suggestions?

Definitely check out Verbena bonariensis for your height needs, plus those tall Sanguisorba varieties like ‘Lilac Squirrel’ or ‘Pink Brushes’ could really add some unique flair to your borders!

You can't go wrong with some tall Thalictrum varieties – they have these lovely frothy flowers that would look stunning along with your roses. Verbena Buenos Aires is nice too, though I think Thalictrum steals the show! Another great pick would be Veronicastrum Cupid for its tall stature and beautiful purple/blue flowers. If you're looking for something sturdy, Echinops Arctic Glow (or any variety) grows to about 1 meter tall with nice white blooms. And don't forget, if you have some structure to grow up or along, a clematis could work great as well!

Oh that's a great suggestion! Thank you!

I'd also recommend incorporating Alliums, delphiniums, and Japanese anemones. They add a nice variety of shapes and colors without overwhelming your roses!
