Hey everyone! I'm an amateur woodworker and a huge DIY fan. A few months back, I picked up a hand plane from FBMP, but I'm struggling to get it set up properly. I have some upcoming projects, including building an office desk and a front door, and I really want to learn how to plane wood myself. Do you all have any favorite setup videos on YouTube that could help me out? Thanks a lot!

I’d definitely start with channels like Wood by Wright, Paul Sellers, and Rex Kruger. They have amazing videos on plane setup and how to restore vintage planes. For sharpening, Chris Schwarz’s small book "Sharpen This" is a must-have. Just find a sharpening system that you like and stick with it – they all work once you get the hang of it! Just a heads-up, desks and doors are big projects, so plan on needing some practice before diving in if you’re new to hand planning.
Good advice, but dude. Rabbet hole was right there for ya.
Totally agree! Paul Sellers is the Godfather of hand planning tutorials as far as I’m concerned. His content is invaluable.
My personal favorite is from Matt Estlea. Here’s the link: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KrXQzjANuCA. His video was a game-changer for me. He really has a knack for teaching and breaking things down in a way that’s easy to follow. Hope it helps you too!
His way of teaching just works so well for me. I can tell he has spent time finding the best ways of explaining things through his real-life teaching experience. Or else he is a natural. Or both.
I think Paul Sellers has the most thorough videos out there. A lot of other YouTubers just rehash his content, so you may as well go straight to the source!
Rex Kreuger has a fantastic video from a few years ago, and he even has a recent course on his website that covers a lot of great info.

This is really the only answer OP needs. (It's like I wrote it myself...) Good job!
