Looking for Tips on My First Woodworking Project

Hey everyone! I'm about to start my first woodworking project, but I'm not quite sure what would be best to start with. I've never done any woodworking before, but I learn best by getting hands-on experience. What do you all recommend as a good first project to dive into?

If you're looking for something a bit different, consider building a simple workbench or worktable. I made one with some plywood and 3/4" dog holes for storage. It was my first 'real' project, and it set a great foundation for finer woodworking later on!

I've found some good ideas on r/BeginnerWoodWorking. Though I'm still a beginner, that community has inspired me with tons of project ideas!

I really can't stress enough how important it is to learn how to make a box. They're versatile and can be made in all sorts of styles and sizes. Plus, mastering box-making is a fundamental skill in woodworking. YouTube has tons of tutorials to help you out!

Totally agree! Boxes are a great way to start. They can be a fun challenge, and we all need storage solutions anyway!

Absolutely! Once I make my first box, I'm planning to sand, design, and paint it to look like a treasure chest.
