I'm working on shearing a massive 400 ft boxwood hedge and I'm looking for clever techniques! Specifically, I'm interested in ideas for creating some sort of rolling contraption to attach my trimmer so it stays level while I work. Any thoughts on how to tackle aspects like the front and back would also be helpful. I'm located in Ontario, so any tips that suit our climate would be great!

Have you thought about attaching your trimmer to a lawnmower? That could make the process easier and more efficient! 😂
Start with the sides before tackling the top. Make sure to use a hedge trimmer with fast blades for the best results. It’s a good idea to lay down a tarp or be ready to rake and vacuum up the clippings afterward. Also, be cautious about cutting too deep, since boxwoods can break from old wood. In winter, snow can weight down the top, so brush it off or cut it into a peak shape so it slides off easier. Aim for your first cut around May 1st and finish before October 14th.
I like your idea about making a rolling holder for the trimmer, but I haven't seen one out there yet. Personally, I've found that using ground cloths, like bed sheets, can really help in cleaning up quickly after the trimming is done.
