Looking for Tree Suggestions for Our Landscaping in NE Ohio

Hey everyone! We're in NE Ohio (zone 6a) and are about to remove our Bradford pear tree, which has become quite a hazard—chunks have been falling off! It's only about 8 feet from our house, and we need something better in its place.

We'd love to find a tree that can provide some shade in the future (we can wait a bit!) and looks nice without falling apart at the slightest wind. Our neighbor had beautiful maple trees that provided fantastic shade but cut them down—so sad! Looking for suggestions on what trees would be a good fit and what to avoid. I'm open to researching whatever you suggest. Thanks!

Hey there! I live in the same area and would recommend looking into Japanese maples. They're stunning and generally hold up well. The ‘Bloodgood’ variety is particularly beautiful if you're into vibrant colors!

Thanks! We actually have a Japanese maple in another part of the yard, and it looks great! Maybe I could get a different variety to complement it!
