Hey everyone! I'm on the lookout for some great woodworking stores in California. I've heard about a popular Japanese tool shop, but I can't quite remember its name or the city it's in. We're driving from Palm Springs to Redding tomorrow and it would be great to find something along the I-5 route. I'm also planning to visit the School of the Redwoods and the Krenov School later this week when we head to the northern coast, so any suggestions for unique shops or lumber suppliers on the way would be awesome! Thanks in advance!

If you're thinking about the Japanese store, it's probably Hida Tool in Berkeley. Definitely a cool spot to check out! You might want to make a little detour if you can swing it. They have a good selection of traditional tools and supplies.
Gonna have to go visit!
You could also check out Rockler and Woodcraft; they have multiple locations. But if you're looking for something more unique, I totally get that! There are often smaller specialty shops or antique stores that might have unique finds, especially if you're into turning blanks or other smaller pieces.
Yeah, I was hoping there were some cool specialty shops that were not Rockler or Woodcraft. Any recommendations for lumber suppliers?

Awesome! Thank you!
