Looking to Upgrade My Sander – Need Recommendations!

Hey everyone! My trusty Dewalt hand sander has finally retired after many years of service and I'm thinking it's time to invest in an upgrade. I've been looking into higher-end sanders like the Festool Rotex and Mirka DEROS, but they come with a hefty price tag. I've heard that the cheaper models around $250 aren't really worth it and that the ones in the $600 range can change the game, but I want to make sure I'm making an informed decision. I've also read about the potential for neuropathy from vibration, and I've experienced tingling in my hands before, so I definitely want to avoid any health issues. I really need my hands to keep functioning! Any advice or recommendations for what would be the best upgrade?

I replaced my Dewalt with a 3M Xtract sander for around $400, and I can tell you my hands are thanking me! It’s been a solid investment, and I have no regrets at all. Make sure to get some 3M cubitron discs with it for the best experience!

I totally agree! I got the 3M Extract 6” a couple of years ago too, and it's been a game changer for me. Plus, the dust extraction is fantastic!

I recently bought the Bosch 18v 40n and I’m really happy with it. The dust extraction is surprisingly effective even without my vacuum connected. The vibration is manageable too. The only downside is finding compatible sandpaper locally, but I've heard that Mirka mesh paper is worth the investment! I mainly use it for cabinets and it works great. All in, I spent just over $200 with a new battery.

I just ordered a Bosch sander for about $200. While I’d love a Festool, I can’t justify spending $700 on one. Hoping this Bosch does the job!
