I'm new to using battery-powered tools and I'm looking to buy an impact wrench for some work on my 2012 Tahoe's suspension, differential, and my Tesla Model 3's suspension as well. I don't have a shop lift, so it's tough to work in cramped spaces when I jack my cars up. I want something compact to avoid clearance issues, but powerful enough to handle tough bolts without relying too much on penetrating oil. Should I go for the M12 or M18? What socket sizes should I consider—3/8 or 1/2? Any recommendations would be super helpful!

If you can swing it, I would suggest getting both the M18 Mid Torque in 1/2 inch drive and the M12 Stubby in 3/8 inch drive. This combo will cover most repairs easily!
I'd recommend the 3/8 stubby impact wrench. It has plenty of power for most tasks and is compact enough to fit into tight spaces without a hassle. If you're looking for something to keep handy, a 1/2 inch model like the M18 2967 is also great!

What if I got the 1/2 stubby instead? Should I just get adapters for 3/8 size bolts? I feel like I wouldn't need the full 550 ft-lbs of breakaway torque for those.
