I'm trying to decide between getting the M18 or M12 Fuel Hackzall for some DIY projects. I already have both M18 and M12 tools, and I've got a good number of M2 batteries. My main tasks will be trimming a couple of trees at home, doing some random demolition work, and carrying it while riding my ATV on private land for trail maintenance. The fallen trees I usually deal with are typically sub 8 inches in diameter, so I'm wondering which Hackzall would be better suited for my needs. Any recommendations?

I’d say definitely go for the M18 if you’ll be doing demo work and cutting up downed trees. It’s way more powerful. But if you're making a lot of overhead cuts, the M12's lighter weight can help with arm fatigue over longer periods. Just think about how you’ll be using it the most!
I've used both models for construction and around the house. Honestly, while I liked the M12, I tend to grab my M18 more often because of its better battery life and power. The newer M12 batteries might improve its performance, but I'm just used to the M18 now. Both are solid tools, though!
I actually own both. The M18 is about 1.5 times stronger and quicker than the M12, but the M12 can still outshine a handsaw any day! It’s a good backup tool if you need something lighter.
My M18 Fuel Hackzall is my go-to; it handles pretty much anything I throw at it. If you need to cut something, it's the first tool I reach for because of its size, weight, and power. I even switched to a pruning blade for my yard work, and it makes a huge difference! I haven't used the M12, so I can't compare directly, but the M18 won't let you down.

I have a single M12 5.0 battery, and I've found it works pretty well for what I need!
