Milwaukee vs Echo/Husqvarna: Which String Trimmer Should I Choose?

I'm looking to buy a new string trimmer and an edger, and I'm torn between going for the Milwaukee cordless option or a gas-powered model from Echo or Husqvarna. Previously, I had a GreenWorks trimmer that I didn't enjoy at all because it was either running full throttle or completely off. I'm particularly curious if the Milwaukee model has a partial throttle response and if its attachment system is compatible with an edger attachment.

I absolutely love my Milwaukee 3016-20. I've got the whipper snipper and edger attachments, and using only forge batteries, I've had fantastic power and battery life. I used to work with Echo models during my landscaping days but would definitely pick the Milwaukee over them any day.

Totally get where you're coming from! I use the Milwaukee Quik-Lok system and have both the trimmer and edger attachments, plus a pole saw and brush cutter. It has a variable speed trigger, which is great. Just a heads up though, it can overheat a bit if you push it too hard—like after 2-3 yards of use. You just have to let it cool down for a while. If you're interested, I can share a video showing how it works!

If it’s overheating, try using a smaller gauge line. I switched from .095 to .080, and that fixed the overheating for me.

What you want is the M18 Quik-Lok system! It features three speed presets to really help with the throttle control. They just came out with a newer model that addresses the vibration issue which was a major complaint of the older version. Definitely worth checking it out! You can find it on Home Depot's site to see the specs.

Awesome, thanks for the heads up! I have a few 8.0 HO batteries—are those enough to power this model?
