I'm excited to finally have a garage with my new house! Since I haven't had much space for tools before, I'm curious to know what essential tools and accessories are great to have for household projects and common jobs. What do you recommend?

For light tasks like hanging pictures or mounting curtains, you'll want an 18V or 20V drill/driver, a good set of wrenches, a level, and a tape measure. For yard work, you'll need a shovel, a rake, and possibly a lawnmower. Invest in basic tools first, and for larger projects, renting can save you money!
Apart from the basics, a non-oily oil change pan is super handy for unexpected leaks or messes. Also, a reliable work light is essential for those times you need some visibility. If you’re considering cordless power tools, stick to established brands to avoid having a mess of incompatible batteries!
In my garage, I have a mix of stuff like multiple extension ladders, different bikes, and some random items. But seriously, for practical yard maintenance, check out estate sales to score sturdy rakes, shovels, and basic hand tools. You can usually get a decent collection for under $100!

Also, a light 2 or 3 step ladder is a game changer! It's easy to move around and can handle most tasks without the hassle of a traditional ladder.
