Hey everyone! I'm new to homeownership and I need some guidance. I have a reusable air filter for my AC, and after washing it yesterday, I made the rookie mistake of letting it dry without planning ahead. It was a scorching 85 degrees outside when I did this, and after drying the filter for a couple of hours, I put it back in and turned the AC on. It set to 71 degrees, but my house hasn't cooled down at all—it's still 85 inside! I even tried raising the temperature to 81 to see if that helped, but no luck. Now, I've got the windows open and the AC on Fan Only mode since it's cooler outside, and I've barely dropped to 83 in 20 minutes. What could be going wrong? The filter was dry when I put it back in and it's installed correctly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

First thing to check—have a look at the coils of your unit. If they're clogged or iced over, that could definitely cause issues. Also, just a heads up, if your filter is on the air handler, make sure that's the one you're checking. It could be a simple fix!

Filter looks fine, and yes, the air handler is below the thermostat.
