My Milwaukee Air Compressor Stopped Working After Just a Few Hours—What Should I Do?

I recently bought the Milwaukee air compressor model 2840-20, and after only 2 to 3 hours of use, it quit on me and now just clicks when I try to turn it on. I've done some research and it seems like this isn't an isolated issue. Unfortunately, I didn't check for known problems before buying it, which was my own oversight since Milwaukee usually has a good reputation. Now, I've been quoted $284 for repairs, but I'm hesitant to pay that much, especially since I barely used it. What are my options here?

Have you checked whether the pressure release valve is stuck? That was a quick fix for me with a similar issue. Sometimes just cleaning out any gunk can do the trick for a zero-cost solution!

Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely check that out when I get it back.

You could try returning the compressor where you bought it if you're within their return policy. Another option is to get it repaired by someone other than Milwaukee, which might be cheaper. Good luck!

Yeah, returning it sounds like the best shot. If not, maybe check around for local repair options!

If you didn't use it enough and they won't cover it under warranty, that sucks. I’ve heard that Milwaukee can be picky about warranty claims sometimes, so you might want to think about the gamble next time you buy. It can be frustrating!

Right? I feel you on this. Some brands really do need to step it up with customer service.
