My Monstera Is Struggling – Any Tips to Save It?

Asked By GreenThumb98 On

I noticed my Monstera has started developing root rot. I've caught it early and managed to cut off the rotted roots, but now I'm trying to propagate it in water. Unfortunately, I think the rot is still spreading, and I'm really worried about losing my plant. Any advice on how to save it before it's too late? Thanks a lot!

First off, make sure to cut off any rot at least an inch above the affected area to stop it from spreading. Also, a good tip is to spray the remaining healthy roots with hydrogen peroxide; it helps eliminate any bacteria lurking around. Just be gentle with your Monstera!

That's some solid advice! If the rot has gotten to the stem, though, it's tough to save it. I've never had success reviving a plant once stem rot sets in.
