Hey everyone, I'm new to home improvement and could really use your help! I'm 18 and recently I was working on my shed when I noticed that my outside drain isn't draining at all. After getting all the water out, I discovered that it's blocked by some kind of hard material, possibly cement. I've lived here for 9 years, and my mum also doesn't remember it ever working, so it's clearly been a problem for a while. It looks like there's a PVC casing meant for draining, but it's completely blocked. What do you think the best way to tackle this is?

It sounds like you might have a drain connected to your downspout, which could lead to a bigger drainage system. If it was improperly sealed off, that could explain the blockage. I’d suggest checking if there’s any grate covering it or if there’s any way to see how deep the blockage goes. Also, be careful if it’s connected to your sewer—some places prohibit that! Just make sure you understand what you’re working with before proceeding.
Could it be that someone did some concrete work and accidentally dumped cement down there? If that's the case, you might need to dig that up. You should do a little poking around to see just how solid that blockage is. If it's really hard, it may require some specialized tools to break it up. Just be ready for some potential mess!
