My Pothos Looks Sad After Repotting – What Should I Do?

Hey everyone! I recently repotted my 9-year-old pothos plant, but it seems to be really unhappy. I think I might have cut too much off the roots because they were about 12 inches long, and I trimmed them down to 5 inches. Now, some leaves at the base and the ends of a few vines are wilting, even though other parts of the plant look fine (I can share pictures if needed). It's been two weeks since the repotting. Should I just give it more time to recover, or do you think I should cut back some of the vines to help it manage better given the root situation? Thanks a ton for your help!

You probably cut off a lot of the roots, which can stress the plant out—especially if you’ve also made some changes to its environment. It's possible that it’s either not getting enough water or maybe too much. Just keep the soil moist but not soggy, and be patient. Often they bounce back once they’re settled in!

Totally agree! Just give it some TLC and avoid making more drastic cuts for now.

Thanks! I’ll try to hold off on any more trimming for a bit.

I wouldn’t recommend cutting back any vines that still have leaves on them since those are crucial for photosynthesis. The leaves help the plant generate the energy it needs to grow back those roots. It's normal for pothos to go through some stress after repotting, so give it a bit more time. Also, can you share how big the new pot is? That's an important factor!

Yeah, it might just be adjusting to the new pot size. Make sure it’s not sitting in water too long either, as that could cause root rot.

Thanks for the advice! I’ll keep an eye on it and see how it does.
