My String of Pearls is Dying—What Should I Do?

I've noticed that my String of Pearls plant is not looking good and I'm really worried it might be dying. Can anyone give me some advice on how to revive it? I've heard overwatering could be an issue, but I'm not sure how to tell if that's the problem or if it's something else. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Totally get the worries! Overwatering is a big cause of problems for succulents. It usually happens when they’re watered too frequently, or if the soil doesn’t drain well. If your leaves are looking soggy, that’s a sign. You might need to unpot the plant, check the roots, and repot it in some fresh, fast-draining soil. Make sure your pot has drainage holes too—rocks at the bottom won’t help!

What kind of soil are you using? It’s important to mix it with something that allows for good drainage.

Also, be careful to acclimate your plants gradually to sunlight after repotting to avoid shock!

It sounds like your plant might be overwatered and possibly rotting. First off, clip any healthy strands to propagate them and repot the plant into some dry, gritty soil. It’s essential to let the roots dry out before repotting to avoid further issues. Once it’s in new soil, try to acclimate it to some sunlight. Remember, only water it when the leaves start to look a bit deflated—this is a sign it needs watering. Good luck!

It’s also crucial to identify if it’s actually rot. Common signs are black, mushy spots on the stems or translucent leaves. If you see those, you might need to cut away the affected parts.
