I'm considering getting a router table, but I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. I currently have a Skill RT1322 and a Milwaukee trim router. I'm open to buying another router since the Skill isn't the best option for table use. I plan to use the table for tasks like dados, edge profiles, and joinery. My budget is around $500, and while I'm somewhat open to building my own setup, I would prefer a pre-made tabletop and fence since I often end up unhappy with my homemade versions due to time constraints.

I'd recommend the Bosch 1617EV paired with a Kreg router lift. I built my own cabinet for it, and it works perfectly. If you're thinking about getting another router, the Bosch would be a solid choice for your table, while you could keep the Skill for outside work. Just keep in mind that costs can add up quickly if you go for a complete Kreg setup, so check your budget!
What’s the problem with using the Skill router in a table? From what I've seen, it should work fine for basic tasks. Maybe you just need some adjustments or extra features to make it work better?
The biggest issue is the digital speed controls being at the bottom. It’s a hassle to pull it out just to adjust settings. I'm aiming for a more convenient setup!
I've been using the Australian Triton router for almost a decade under my table, and it's been fantastic! It's got great coarse and fine adjustments and makes bit changes super easy. I'd definitely buy it again if anything happened to mine. Just make sure it fits your needs since it's a bit more advanced.
I've heard good things about the Triton, but I think it's more than what I really need for my projects. Still worth considering!
